A two-day office general cleaning project in Shah Alam, carried out on 23 and 24 April 2026. The work covered the office’s work areas, shared facilities, floors and staircases, with the aim of leaving the whole premises clean, hygienic and ready for everyday use.
This project involved professional general cleaning for an office in Shah Alam, Selangor. Unlike routine daily upkeep, a general clean looks at the premises as a whole: workstations and furniture, meeting rooms, pantry and washrooms, glass and doors, floors, and the staircases and corridors that connect them. The work was completed over two days, on 23 and 24 April 2026.
Offices accumulate dust and grime in places that day-to-day cleaning tends to pass over – the tops of cabinets and partitions, skirting and corners, stair treads and handrails, and the high-touch surfaces that many people use every day. A thorough office general cleaning resets these areas, so the workplace looks well kept and the shared facilities stay hygienic.
Because an office combines many surface types and uses within one building, the job needed a structured approach. Work was divided into zones and sequenced from top to bottom and from dry to wet, so dust removed from higher surfaces was not left on floors that had already been cleaned, and each area could be finished within the two-day window.
The cleaning covered the main parts of a working office: workstations and desks, meeting and discussion rooms, the reception area, pantry and washrooms, glass doors and partitions, and the staircases and corridors used to move around the building. Priorities were set by how each area is used. Washrooms and the pantry need hygienic cleaning and sanitising; desks and meeting rooms need careful dusting and wiping around equipment; and stairs and corridors, which carry foot traffic all day, need thorough floor cleaning and attention to handrails.
An office contains a wide mix of surfaces, including laminate and timber-finish furniture, glass, stainless steel and ceramic in the pantry and washrooms, and hard floors such as tiles and concrete or terrazzo stair treads, alongside any carpeted areas. Each needs a suitable cleaning solution and method: neutral cleaners for floors and furniture, glass cleaner for windows and partitions, and dedicated washroom products, with separate cloths for washroom and non-washroom areas to avoid cross-contamination.
Quality for an office general clean is judged on consistency across the whole premises: dust-free surfaces including the less visible ones, clean and streak-free glass, hygienic washrooms and pantry, and floors and staircases that are clean, dry and safe to use when the work is handed over.
A general clean of an office brings together several different areas and surfaces. These practical considerations were taken into account when planning the work:
Desks hold computers, cables and paperwork, so surfaces were cleaned around them carefully, without moving documents or disconnecting equipment.
Furniture, glass, stainless steel, ceramic, tiles and stair treads each need a suitable product and method to clean well without causing damage.
Stairs collect dust and tracked-in dirt in the corners of each step. Mopping had to be done step by step, with care to leave the treads safe to walk on.
Washrooms and the pantry need separate cleaning materials and colour-coded cloths so germs are not carried to desks and other areas.
The full office had to be cleaned within 23 and 24 April 2026, so the work was zoned and sequenced to finish each area in turn.
The office general cleaning followed a top-to-bottom, dry-before-wet approach, using equipment and materials suited to each area of the office.
Safety considerations: wet-floor signs on stairs and corridors while mopping, safe ladder use for high-level dusting, separate colour-coded materials for washrooms, careful handling of cleaning chemicals according to their usage instructions, and no unplugging or moving of IT equipment without approval.
The office was reviewed at the start of the project and divided into zones – work areas, meeting rooms, pantry and washrooms, and staircases and corridors – so each could be cleaned in a logical order across the two days.
Desks, chairs, cabinets, shelves and partitions were dusted from top to bottom and wiped down, working carefully around computers, cables and paperwork. Fabric chairs and carpeted areas were vacuumed.
Pantry counters, sinks, cabinet fronts and appliance exteriors were degreased and wiped, while washroom basins, toilets, mirrors, fittings and floors were scrubbed and sanitised using dedicated washroom materials.
Staircases were swept and then mopped step by step, with attention to the corners of each tread, landings and skirting. Handrails and balustrades were wiped down, and corridors were cleaned along the same route.
Glass doors, windows and partitions were cleaned for a streak-free finish. Door handles, light switches, lift buttons and other frequently touched points were wiped and sanitised.
Hard floors were cleaned with methods suited to each surface, finishing along edges and in corners. A final walk-through on 24 April checked each zone for missed areas before the office was handed back.
The project was completed within the scheduled two days, covering the planned scope across the office: workstations and furniture, pantry and washrooms, glass and high-touch points, floors, and the staircases and corridors.
The general cleaning left the premises noticeably cleaner and better presented. Dust was removed from both visible and less obvious surfaces, shared facilities were cleaned and sanitised, and the staircases and floors were left clean and safe to use, giving staff and visitors a more comfortable and hygienic working environment.
The job also adds to our practical experience of office general cleaning: organising a whole-premises clean into zones, coordinating different cleaning activities and surface types in the same project, and sequencing the work so that each area could be finished properly within a short schedule.

The approach used in this project – zoning the premises, cleaning from top to bottom, keeping washroom materials separate and finishing with floor care – applies to many other commercial environments. These include corporate offices, the office and administration areas of factories and warehouses, commercial buildings, educational facilities and managed properties. Office cleaning is part of our commercial cleaning and housekeeping services, and it can be combined with specialised cleaning such as carpet cleaning or marble polishing – see our office carpet cleaning project in Glenmarie, Shah Alam.

Common questions about professional office general cleaning for offices and commercial premises.
It usually covers the whole premises: dusting and wiping of workstations, furniture and partitions, cleaning and sanitising of the pantry and washrooms, glass and high-touch surface cleaning, and floor and staircase cleaning. The exact scope is agreed according to the office layout and requirements.
Daily office cleaning focuses on routine upkeep, such as emptying bins, wiping surfaces and light floor cleaning. A general clean is more thorough and covers areas that routine cleaning tends to pass over, such as high ledges, partition tops, skirting, stair corners and the detailed cleaning of shared facilities.
Typical equipment includes commercial vacuum cleaners, mops and buckets, colour-coded microfibre cloths, squeegees and extension dusters, and step ladders, together with suitable floor, glass, multi-surface and washroom cleaning products.
It depends on the size of the office, the number of floors, the condition of the premises and the agreed scope. This project in Shah Alam was completed over two days. A site assessment helps to plan the schedule and manpower for each office.
